Roller derby is better with friends

On Sunday, we invited our friends – Big Bucks High Rollers – to join us for our first mixed scrim since early 2020.

Newer skaters took part in a low contact scrim including skaters from our January rookie intake! This was followed by a full contact scrim for more experienced skaters.

“Thank you everyone who make this possible behind the scenes and on the day. LOVED playing!!” – Keeno Kes

What is a scrim?

A ‘scrim’ or ‘scrimmage’ is an informal way of playing roller derby. An official game is known as a ’bout’.

At a scrim, we might mix up the teams and try new things, with the focus on learning and having fun. There may be fewer officials in a scrim, and we may introduce additional parameters such as honesty penalties or unlimited team timeouts.
